Naples, Italy, 11-15 October 2010The school is promoted by the COST Action MP0702 and organized by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), in collaboration with SIOF - the Italian Society of Optics and Photonics. This School follows the Summer School on Plasmonics, organized by the COST Action MP0702 in Porquerolles (France) in September 2009.
The School is dedicated to PhD students, Post Docs and researchers who are interested to acquire an updated knowledge in nanophotonics; the venue is the Research Area of CNR in Naples, and this will permit participants to visit nanophotonics laboratories.
The registration should be made before July 1st. The registration fee will include admission to lectures, lunches and coffee-breaks, lodging, excursion and social dinner.
Further information will be available here: www.nanofotonica.it
3rd Summer School on Optoinformatics

Professor Tom Brown (University of Rochester) "Curiosities of inhomogeneously polarized optical fields"
Professor Miles Padgett (University of Glasgow) "Light's Twist "
Professor Jannick Rolland (University of Rochester) "Moving away from symmetry, a new look for optical aberrations and optical surface descriptions"
Professor Colin Sheppard (National University of Singapore) "3D Image Formation"
Professor Zeev Zalevsky (Bar-Ilan University) "Super resolved photonic sensing"
In addition, there will be four shorter talks by speakers from University College Dublin, NUI Maynooth and NUI Galway.
All participants are invited to prepare a poster describing their own research for display and discussion during the School.
You will find any further information here.
Digital Imaging
- digital still cameras became affordable to the consumer market and are being used by every tourist,
- the largest commercial growth ever in semiconductor business came from mobile imaging applications,
- new professional applications became possible, e.g. digital cinematography, non-invasive surgery, high-speed industrial applications, etc.
You can find any further information here.
With regard to the organization and the logistics of the courses, you will find further information here.

Summer University 2010 - Telecommunication
DTU Fotonik, Technical University of Denmark, July - August 2010The Section for Communication Technology at DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering, would like to invite international students to a short summer course in July to August as part of the DTU Summer University program. The idea is to present DTU and the especially DTU Fotonik to students that potentially would like to be guests of DTU. Guest students may be at DTU for one semester or they may be enrolled in the two year M.Sc. programs. DTU Fotonik has many international guest students as well as students in the two year M.Sc. program in Telecommunication. The M.Sc. program is described at http://www.fotonik.dtu.dk/English/Education/Int_Msc.aspx, and this link also gives a more general description of DTU Fotonik. This year the course is arranged in cooperation with the EURO-FOS Research Network on Photonic Systems.
There is a maximum of 30 seats in the Telecommunication Summer University. The applicants are evaluated as decribed below under Entrance Requirements.

Advances in Nanophotonics Summer School
Erice, Sicily, 11-18 July 2010Nanophotonics is a broad field, having fascinating
aspects both from a fundamental point of view and with regard to future
applications in photonic devices and materials. The topics that will be
covered by the school are those of nano plasmonics and nano photonics
including energy efficiency and generation. The scope of the school is
to introduce participants to concept, methods, applications and the
state of the art in nanophotonics. The school will focus on both the
theoretical and experimental aspects of the current research in the
field, with an eye to applications. The School will be covered by
lectures and seminars. A special event, supported by SIOF, to celebrate
50 years of Laser is scheduled .

Summer Research Programme for UndergraduatesThis program is for motivated undergraduates from different universities who want to improve their research skills and plan to attend graduate school. The program offers the undergraduates the opportunity to gain research experience that helps them decide if they want to pursue graduate education or professional research career.
The duration of the program is at least seven weeks. Beginning and ending dates are flexible to accommodate the needs of the particular student and the research faculty.
Students choose from the research projects of KU faculty to match their areas of interest.
In case of their acceptance to the program, they work closely with faculty mentors and their research groups that include graduate students and advanced high school students who participate in KU Summer Research Experience for High School Students.
Students are exposed to a broad range of new concepts and research techniques which help to improve their independent thinking and creativity.
The application process begins by filling out and submitting application form online.
